I’ve just got back from a week’s holiday in Cornwall, England, with my extended family and one thing really struck me. Well, two things, really! And that’s my in-laws.

They are INCREDIBLE. Both in their 70s, they were able to keep up with their 12 grandchildren every day as we all surfed, walked the incredibly hilly coastal path, played and chatted.  They are lean and fit. My mother-in-law came second in her age category in the London Marathon last year, for goodness’ sake! What struck me is that I want to be like that when I’m in my 70s. I want to play with my grandchildren and be healthy enough to live life to the max in my advancing years.

The sad fact is that neither of my own parents are still alive to enjoy special family holidays. They were both overweight and unfit and although I don’t know how much this contributed to their early demise, I don’t want to take any chances. It certainly can’t have helped.

There’s no doubt that healthy eating can be hard. Who can resist that final slice of Domino’s, glass of wine, or the cake on the table at the 3pm meeting? Unless you’re some kind of superhuman, willpower alone probably won’t cut it. That’s why I’ve had to find practical ways to turn making the right choices into a habit. Tune in to find out what habits you could adopt which could help steer you towards not only a joy-filled retirement, but also a more energised and confident tomorrow.

And don’t forget to Choose Your Attitude – after all, it’s the one thing that we have a choice about.
