HOW TO USE THE 'CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE' JOURNAL TECHNIQUE

Any new neural habit is a bit like walking through a field of tall grass.  The first few times you do it the grass just springs back up, making no obvious mark on the field, but with repetition the neural pathways in the brain develop and become like a well-trodden path cutting through the long grass. That’s why committing to a practice is so important. If we want to use brain science and physically change the construct of our brain to learn new skills, develop a more positive attitude and adopt new habits, we have to regularly repeat the action.  That is why I journal every day.   

It takes me less than ten minutes a day - I figure that my hopes and aspirations deserve at least that amount of time! There is absolutely no right or wrong way to approach this.  Some in our test group preferred to start or finish with gratitude.  Others liked to fill out some of the sections in the morning, then complete the remaining sections just before bed.  If you find yourself getting stuck on a section some days, just miss it out.  As with all habits, if there is any kind of friction, you’ll soon stop bothering, so give yourself the best chance of success by making it your own.

The Choose Your Attitude Journal technique is structured in such a way that it leverages my rowing boat strategies with some of the best productivity, positive psychology and neuroscience research out there.  This is digestible science with a practical application that is split into 5 sections.
